Fairview has released its BIM catalogue that allows architects to choose from a range of facade cladding solutions to suit their project design. Created using Revit, these BIM files enable architects to try a few options before selecting the right product for their current project and adding the appropriate file to their facade design.

Architects are increasingly relying on BIM software to design their building projects as the advanced industry standard modelling tools enable them to fully visualise each individual product within a virtual 3D design. Using BIM, architects can see what the final project will look like before construction has even begun.

Where CAD tools, previously preferred by architects, generate digital 2D and 3D drawings of projects, BIM construction tools take the design experience to a whole new level by letting architects create designs using intelligent objects. Regardless of the number of times the architect changes the building design, the design will remain consistent and accurate and be stored and saved in a structured data repository.

Each BIM file in Fairview’s BIM catalogue contains additional information on the production and installation process of the cladding solution as well as useful technical data, enabling the architect to confirm the suitability of the product for the project.

Fairview CEO Andrew Gillies said they were committed to providing architects with all the tools and information needed to assist them in making their facade cladding choice. Given the rapid acceptance of BIM by the industry, it was important for Fairview to have their own content that architects could use within their existing BIM library.

The catalogue is currently available to download on the Fairview website.

Fairview offers a range of BIM designed facade solutions across Australia and overseas, and also manufactures a non-combustible aluminium composite panel that is tested to AS 1530.1 and AS 1530.3 as required by the Building Council of Australia.
