Interior designer Nina Maya chose a double sided Escea gas fireplace as a centrepiece element in the living room of her beautiful Palm Beach holiday house in Sydney. A double sided Escea DX1000 fireplace divides two spaces in the main living area, creating a stunning room feature.

Nina explained that she chose an Escea fireplace for her home because she had always relied on the brand for her clients. Excited about the sleek frameless look of the DX Series models, she wanted to feature one in her new home.

A gas option was a natural decision since her family had a wood fireplace for many years but ended up not using it much as they kept running out of firewood. A gas fireplace offered her the ease of pushing a button and having an immediate fire.

For the fuelbed, Nina chose the stones for a minimalist look that suited the beautiful beach backdrop.

The fireplace is the first thing they switch on when they visit the holiday home during winter as it warms the whole house in an instant, she said.

For the installation, Nina designed the whole wall around this fireplace. Keeping the clean and minimal aesthetic of the house in mind, she chose a large format black porcelain tile to create a black band across the width of the wall framing the fireplace to really draw the eye to it. The rest of the wall was sheeted and painted white to create a very smooth finish.

According to Nina, the height of the fire might look unusual at first, but makes total sense when you sit down on the sofa and see the ocean through the flames.
