Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry, an innovation in hand washing and drying technology, was specified for the washroom facilities at the Wellington International Airport as a more environmentally sustainable alternative to their existing methods.

As the main airport in New Zealand’s capital city, the Wellington International Airport has made considerable investments in recent years to expand the facilities to cope with increased passenger traffic.

The warm hand dryers and paper towels used at the airport not only resulted in water on the floor but also created a paper towel mess, requiring frequent cleaning. The wet mess on the floor was also a slip hazard.

The Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry, which integrates a tap and a hand dryer in a single unit, allows users to wash and dry their hands at the sink, eliminating any possibility of water dripping onto the floor.

Project architect Katherine Skipper explained that the Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry provided the perfect solution for the problems they were having with water on the floor and constant restocking of paper towels.

“The Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry is a very premium looking product. Very modern, sleek design in keeping with the rest of the airport,” commented Simon Hart, Wellington Airport facilities manager.

Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry has significantly improved the user experience of travellers at the airport while reducing maintenance.
