Dyson Appliances has partnered with local Carbon Trust partner, Planet Ark, to inform Australian consumers about the carbon footprints generated from everyday products.

It was recently the Dyson Airblade hand dryer was awarded the Carbon Reduction Label from the Carbon Trust. The Carbon Trust is a UK environmental organisation that is dedicated in lowering carbon emissions.   The Carbon Reduction Label was established to help consumers understand how they can reduce their carbon foot print by choosing products and services with lower carbon emissions.

“Independent research conducted for Planet Ark found 60% of Australians would be more likely to use or purchase a product displaying the Carbon Reduction Label,” says Euan Murray, Carbon Footprinting General Manager, Carbon Trust UK.

“So it’s great to see the expansion of the label to Australia, with the support of existing global partners like Dyson, now also working at a local level.” Securing a Carbon Reduction Label means companies must prepare to have their entire operation placed under the environmental overview.

The Carbon Reduction Label measures the carbon emissions produced across a product’s material, manufacturing, transportation, in-use operations and as well as its recycling process.

The carbon footprinting process had shown the Dyson Airblade hand dryer emits a total of 4.5g/CO2 per dry in emissions, which is significantly less than the carbon produced from watching 4 minutes of television.
