Dulux meets the challenge of a sustainable future by staying at the forefront of technology and investing in research and development to create innovative, high performance products with reduced environmental impact.

Dulux’s innovations in sustainable solutions are an outcome of their proactive shift from solvent-based products to water-based alternatives, and the introduction of Australia's first low VOC paint in the early 1990s among others.

From initiating sustainable business partnerships, through to product innovations and right up to the actual clean-up stage including waste paint disposal, Dulux continues to develop new ways to reduce the environmental impact of their products, without affecting their outstanding performance and the quality results that Australia's professional and DIY painters have come to expect from the brand.

The environmental choice

Dulux envirO2

Dulux envirO2 is certified by Global GreenTag, one of the most robust, trusted and globally recognised eco-certification programs. Their environmental certifications are just another example of Dulux's ongoing commitment to solving the needs of planet-conscious consumers and customers.

Responsible paint wash up

Responsible paint

Dulux Envirosolutions is a range of responsible solutions to manage water based paint waste and minimise the negative impact of traditional paint disposal methods.

An industry leader

Dulux is committed to continually developing new solutions that help reduce the environmental impact and adhere to industry standards.

World class manufacturing facilities

Dulux opened Australia's largest paint factory with the most sophisticated manufacturing technology of any paint factory in the world, featuring 300kW solar power generation, rain harvesting and on-site waste water management.

Low VOC paints

Dulux has been at the forefront of low VOC paint innovation for almost three decades. Low VOC paints are lower in volatile organic compounds, thereby reducing both emissions and odour.

Dulux has introduced low VOC products such as Dulux envirO2, Wash&Wear and the Decorama tinter system used to deliver Dulux Colour.

Environmental Product Declaration

Dulux is the first major paint brand in Australia to complete Environmental Product Declarations (EPD). Similar to a nutrition label, an EPD provides a transparent, multi-faceted overview of the environmental performance of a product throughout its lifecycle.

From the production and processing of raw materials, to manufacturing, distribution and application, EPDs provide transparent data about the environmental impact of a product, including carbon footprint.

Dulux's EPDs are independently verified and registered with the Australasian and International Environmental Product Declaration websites.

Paintback

Dulux is a founding member of Paintback, an industry initiative to divert waste paint and packaging from landfill.

Run by an independent, not-for-profit company (Paintback Limited), the program enables the collection and treatment of waste paint and packaging through participating sites around Australia. It is the responsible way for households and professional painters to dispose of leftover paint and packaging.

Project Earth

Dulux is currently working with several large construction companies to recycle used water-based paint drums/pails.

Dulux plans to reprocess these drums into saleable paint sundry items to sell through their Australian network of stores.
