The Dulux Colour Trends for Autumn 2016 indicate an interesting fusion of modern and heritage with luxurious browns, earthy greens and salmon transforming interior spaces.
Inspired by the Future Past theme from the 2016 Dulux Colour Trends, the Autumn palette ‘Design Age’ combines deep and decadent traditional hues with a splash of brighter colour to showcase opulence and classicism with a contemporary twist.
Dulux Colour Expert, Andrea Lucena-Orr explains that the key hues of Autumn including Dulux Pickled, Pretty Primrose and Loose Leather, reveal an underlying earthy palette with a refreshing colourful twist. Though the 2016 Autumn palette comprises of stronger hues, homeowners shouldn’t hesitate to add a darker colour to the mix.
According to Andrea, the warmth of these colours will transform any space and make it more inviting and snug, creating a cosy room to relax in during the colder seasons. She also suggests using bold patterns and luxurious accessories to enhance the colour scheme in interior design. The Future Past trend can be achieved by balancing the Autumn colours with antiques, heirlooms and décor in a modern setting.
Andrea recommends using strong blues and indigo elements with the 2016 Autumn palette. For a more neutral scheme, these colours can be accessorised with stark white items to achieve a striking contrast. When a more subtle look is preferred, the Autumn hues can also be incorporated in smaller volumes. She suggests using one of the colours and then layering accessories incorporating natural colours such as whites and neutrals to counterbalance the darker wall colour.
