Entry to the 2013 Dulux Colour Awards is now open.

Architects, designers, specifiers and students are invited to show their imaginative use of colour by entering the 27th edition of the Dulux Colour Awards.

According to Dulux Colour & Communications Consultant, Bree Leech, the Dulux Colour Awards is Australasia’s prestigious showcase of colour application in both residential and commercial design.

Colour being an integral element in the overall design process, Leech expects to receive entries that push the boundaries and use innovation, imagination and flair to showcase colour in architecture and interior design.

The 2012 Dulux Colour Awards Grand Prix went to Billard Leece Partnership & Bates Smart for The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, which also won them the Commercial Interior category award.

According to Kristen Whittle, Director at Bates Smart and the lead designer for the Royal Children’s Hospital project, colour was a key part of the design process and was used as a way-finding mechanism for the hospital.

Whittle adds the Dulux Colour Awards is an industry-wide recognised awards program that has fostered greater awareness of the importance and use of colour in design and architecture nationwide.
