Homes and businesses around Baulkham Hills can have a fresh lick of paint applied by a national champion now that local business Contemporary Finishes has been announced the 2009 Dulux Accredited Painter of the Year – National Winner and NSW State Winner.

This is the second time Contemporary Finishes has entered the awards, in 2007 they also were awarded the National and NSW State winners.

Held at a gala event in Tasmania, Contemporary Finishes competed against some of the most experienced painting professionals from around the country in the Awards programme, which is designed to acknowledge and foster best business practice.

Contemporary Finishes owners Brad Stephens and George Roumpanis were thrilled by the win:   “We are incredibly excited to be awarded the National winner at this year’s Awards. We are particularly proud to represent Baulkham Hills for the second time and show that there is so much more to running a painting business than simply knowing how to paint!” said Stephens.

The Dulux Accredited Painter of the Year assesses professionals on their business plan and systems, marketing initiatives, financial management, Occupational Health and Safety precautions and practice, and environmental/ sustainability practices.

Dulux Accredited Program Manager, Mark Phillips, acknowledged Contemporary Finishes as a worthy winner of this year’s title.

“Being recognised as the leading Dulux Accredited Painter of the Year in 2009 is terrific not only for Contemporary Finishes but also for Baulkham Hills, and the surrounding suburbs.  The Awards are designed to acknowledge business excellence within the painting industry. It is crucial that people looking to have their home or office painted find comfort in the knowledge they have hired not only an expert painter, but a professional business service provider,” said Phillips.

The winning prize pool includes a trophy as well as $4000 in Dulux incentives, but for Contemporary Finishes, a major reward is the industry recognition.

“This is an increasingly competitive and professional industry, so to be acknowledged amongst our peers by Dulux is an excellent achievement for our business,” said Stephens.

“But for now we’re looking forward to heading home to paint the town red in celebration!” Roumpanis joked.
