A student accommodation project by Richard Middleton Architects was one of the winners at the 2017 Dulux Colour Awards. The RMIT Bundoora West Student Accommodation project, which won in the Multi Residential Exterior Category, featured the electro product from Dulux Powder Coatings in mid bronze.

The winners of the iconic Dulux Colour Awards were announced in Melbourne in May.

The creatively designed project saw the architect utilise materials to create colour shading, deploying the colour on differentiated textures to deliver two tones from just one hue. The building is situated within an aboriginal heritage site amongst ancient red gums, and the bronze exterior creates both texture and lustre in certain light conditions, complementing its environment.

The winners were selected from an initial pool of 286 entries, further reduced to a shortlist of 89 finalists, by a judging panel of design leaders including Ryan Russell, Director at Russell & George; Maurice Terzini, Restaurateur and Fashion Designer; Fiona Lynch, Director at Fiona Lynch Interior Design; Timothy Hill, Director at Partner’s Hill, and Shelley Ferguson, Editor in Chief of Your Home and Garden (NZ).
