Construction company Ceerose selected the new generation Dincel Construction System for their apartment project in Sydney, bucking traditional building methods.

DNA @ Camperdown is a new apartment complex on Pyrmont Bridge Rd in Sydney, constructed by Ceerose using the Dincel Construction System instead of conventional formwork, which helped the company deliver one of their fastest, safest and most sustainable building projects to date.

Dincel Construction System was used extensively throughout the entire DNA project including all vertical elements encompassing a total of 12,000 square metres of patented permanent Dincel forms. By selecting Dincel, Ceerose was able to reduce the construction program, resulting in substantial savings from a decreased requirement of labour and materials.

Ceerose Director Edward Doueihi said that the total cost-time efficiency of the Dincel system helped them shave up to six months off their construction program.

Manufactured in Sydney from non-toxic, durable rigid polymer filled with ready mixed concrete to produce load-bearing, fire-rated, waterproof walls, Dincel Construction System was used extensively throughout the DNA project for the basements, lift/stair/service shafts, deep beams, blade walls, columns, party walls and façade walls. Ceerose also used Dincel for the project’s on-site rainwater tanks and planter boxes.

According to Dincel Construction Systems Business Development Manager Eser Usta, the DNA @ Camperdown project saw the biggest application of the Dincel system. Dincel was able to meet the complex radii by supplying a range of different panels and sizes; being lightweight and easy to install, the panels could be connected manually by simply snapping the joints together. The builder was able to achieve significant savings on labour and concrete material costs as the Dincel system could be installed without the need for cranes, scaffolding and masonry.

Compared to a traditional frame structure, Dincel enabled the DNA apartment complex to be built with a reduced slab thickness of 170mm (including rebates for tiled-wet areas) instead of 200mm, thereby eliminating post-tensioning, reducing steel, concrete and construction time, and completing 18 slabs in just 16 weeks.

Key features and benefits of the Dincel Construction System include fire-resistance; cyclone, flood and earthquake proof to magnitude 9; superior acoustic insulation; VOC-free and 100% recyclable; minimum 100-year lifespan; 90% reduction in steel reinforcing and up to 50% less cement requirement; completely impervious to all emissions from outside, improving indoor air quality; and resistance to growth of mould and mildew.

The Dincel Construction System also offers advantages such as lower maintenance and longer life by preventing wall cracks, water damage, fungal growth and mould; and ability to achieve durable, defect-free substrate for finishes.

Dincel is the result of a substantial five-year research and development process by Dincel Engineers, with extensive consultations carried out with architects, engineers, builders and developers to ensure the patented forms would meet their needs. Dincel was also tested by the CSIRO for Fire Rating, by U.T.S. for structural strength from earthquakes, and by CETEC for off-gassing of VOCs. The system is certified as compliant with the Building Code of Australia.

Dincel produces walls and columns of any size, making it suitable for projects across all development sectors, including commercial buildings, industrial facilities, homes, schools, hospitals, water storage tanks and grain storage.
