CSR Gyprock worked with award-winning Western Australia-based ceiling contractor, Premier Ceilings to achieve the desired outcomes in the ceilings throughout a new family home in Coogee, Western Australia.

Premier Ceilings used Gyprock Aria and Alto cornice profiles to create Gyprock plasterboard bulkhead inserts throughout the contemporary Morolla residence. The cornice profiles from CSR Gyprock were recommended by Premier Ceilings to the homeowner, Domenic Morolla. Gyprock Aria and Alto cornice profiles were applied to the ceiling alongside a stepped design, helping achieve Morolla’s design brief.

Nigel Collicott, construction manager at Premier Ceilings explained that the Morolla residence was the first time they had designed and built a home of this quality from start to finish using the Aria and Alto cornice profiles. The profiles were the perfect choice for meeting the owner’s expectation of a clean, crisp, quality finish.

Collicott added that Gyprock Aria and Alto cornice profiles were very simple to install, and designed to be used as a cohesive pair. He also observed that their contemporary lines worked well to complement the style of the home.

Gyprock cornice profiles can be installed on plasterboard, fibrous plaster or cement rendered surfaces. Cornice is a cost-effective way to create great ambience at home and is easy to cut, join and paint. Gyprock Aria and Alto cornices worked together to achieve stylistic harmony throughout different rooms in the Morolla home.

Gyprock Aria is a streamlined 75mm cornice profile well suited to new build and renovation projects that require a subtle impact. It was used throughout the house, accentuating modern aesthetics through smooth lines and surfaces.

The 90mm Alto profile delivered a simple and striking presence to the master bedroom, further enhancing the modern appeal of the home. A clever 10mm step along the ceiling edge created a crisp shadow that perfectly complemented the contemporary designer feel sought by Domenic Morolla.

Additionally, Premier Ceilings created a shadow line detail with finishing angles and plasterboard sheets to help create the desired family-friendly space for the Morollas. The large family home accommodates four bedrooms, an expansive family room, theatre, alfresco dining, walk-in scullery and store room.
