Clearmake Waste Water Treatment and Recycling Solutions  is a specialist provider of water and wastewater treatment systems for industrial environments.

Background

Qantas required water treatment and recycling solutions for treatment of water from wash downs of aircraft and parts at the Brisbane Airport. The wash down wastewater was required to be treated and reused with excess water sent for local irrigation.

Clearmake was selected to design, manufacture and commission the water treatment and recycling equipment for the site.

Solution

Clearmake worked in partnership with Qantas to develop a custom waste water treatment and recycling system specifically designed to meet the needs of the project. The project components included:

Clearmake Water Recycling System

Capable of treating up to 3,000L per hour of wash down water, this system removes silt, oil, grease and heavy metals from the water. It then filters and disinfects the water to ensure it is safe for reuse for wash down or irrigation.

Clearmake Oil Water Separator Systems

It was determined that it was not practical to recycle water from some parts of the operation. This water is treated using two Clearmake oil & water separators with intrinsically safe control systems before being discharged to the sewer system.

Benefits

  • The combination of solutions cost-effectively maximises water efficiency on the site
  • The solution minimises trade waste discharge costs
  • The local stormwater system and environment is protected from the pollutants generated onsite during the wash down process
  • The payback period on this project was only 18 months
