Chatterton Lacework has developed a new lacework design inspired by the Victorian period.
Called the Small Clover, the new lacework design dates back to the 1850-1880 period, with its shallow design ideal for verandahs featuring a bull nose design. Deep lacework designs are unsuitable for verandahs with a 1.9m – 2m clearance.
The Small Clover lacework design fits perfectly underneath the clover key frieze. The design can also be used on Victorian terraces on the top level, as they only have a clearance of two metres from the ground.
Chatterton Lacework also offers a larger version of the clover design with larger corners and 250mm lacework. Matching balustrades are often used to complement the lacework.
It is interesting to note that many balustrade designs are exclusive to specific areas. For instance, some balustrade panels found in northern Queensland and parts of South Australia are not found anywhere else, unless they have been copied.
