An innovative hybrid concrete construction solution employed on a new commercial high-rise project in Perth’s CBD has helped to deliver it on time and budget.
The nine-storey, Bishops See South Tower, completed earlier this year by Brookfield Multiplex, utilised both precast and insitu concrete construction elements.
This construction solution was driven by two key factors, the first being Perth’s urgent demand for new office space and the second being a shortage of on-site construction labour.
While insitu concrete was used for the basement and podium levels, the upper levels incorporated precast concrete columns, perimeter beams and hollow core floor decking, virtually eliminating form work to save both time and labour.
