DuPont Corian was specified for the Battlesticks Bar project in Scratchleys, Newcastle for its robust properties as well as its visual design flexibility and seamless finishes.

Located between Newcastle Harbour and the foreshore, the bar is exposed to the wind, salt and sun. Open ceiling-to-floor doors and windows featured around the room allow the sea breeze to circulate within for natural ventilation. The renovation, therefore, required material that could withstand the natural elements over a long period of time.

EJE Architecture specified Corian for the bar because of the material’s ability to withstand degradation from the marine environment. Since the architectural elements consisted of natural, flowing designs, Corian was found to be the perfect material to meet these fluid design factors. Corian was also used for all custom furniture and finishing surface detail throughout the space including the curvaceous main bar.

The bar area fills with natural light during the day, giving the space an airy, spacious feel. Durable and easy to maintain, Corian colours Glacier White and Serene Sage were chosen to blend in with the modern design, reflecting and enhancing the daylight that fills the room.

Corian surfaces delivered a contemporary finish to the design, and enabled the bar to offer their customers a modern environment with beautiful harbour views.

Highly recommended for custom furniture, joinery and vertical surfaces, DuPont Corian is available from CASF Australia.
