Australian LED lighting company, Brightgreen has taken home designEX’s prestigious Best New Product for their D900 Cube LED downlight.

The D900 is an evolutionary progression from Brightgreen’s multi award winning D900 Curve and is a square beamed LED downlight that offers architects, builders and designers outstanding control and efficiency.

The Cube directs its light to follow the straight edges in a room, distributing the light evenly and leaving no corners in the dark. Overlapping beams can be a common problem of circular downlights, making the light inefficient and tricky to control. Cube LED downlights overcome this problem by directing light only where it is wanted, and easily separating usage areas in open living spaces.

The Cube requires fewer lights to achieve the same lighting levels as circular downlights, making it more energy efficient and allowing lighting planning to be calculated with greater ease.

Cube LED downlights operate at 2.8 W m2, easily complying with the Building Code of Australia’s new requirements that commence on 1st May 2011. The new requirements will impact lighting designs for all new residential and commercial properties within Australia.

Brightgreen’s D900 series LED downlights match the brightness, light quality and beam width of a 50W halogen, while using only a quarter of the power and lasting fifteen times longer.

The light produced by the Cube LED downlight is UV free, has a 100% compatibility with all dimmers and has no fire risk.

Brightgreen will be showcasing its lighting range at Sydney’s DesignBUILD that begins on 11th May 2011.
