Brightgreen , Australian designers of premium LED lighting, has announced the winners of its national Switched On competition.
Switched On is open to design students and challenges them to create eco-lighting solutions that help to promote innovation in the domestic lighting product development community.
Entries can be any lighting solution that harnesses LED technology, including bulbs, task lights, lamps and ffree standing or fixed downlights, as well as new solutions.
Switched On has been running since 2008 and has grown increasingly more popular and competitive, with Australia’s universities encouraging their design students to enter the lighting design competition.
The winners of the 2011 Switched On lighting competition are:
- 1st – Joseph Louis Tan (UNSW)
- 2nd – Dimitri Stronghilis (RMIT)
- 3rd – Michael Oechsle (Monash)
The winners were awarded $3000 in prize money, with runners up recognised with certificates.
According to David O’Driscoll, head designer at Brightgreen, this year’s entries were very impressive. He explains, ‘This year’s entrants demonstrated user-focused research while developing innovative and versatile product solutions that looked as good as they were sustainable.’
Registration for the 2012 Switched On competition open on November 2012 and participating universities have the opportunity to include submission requirements in their second semester curriculums
