Birrus Matting Systems introduces a new tactile range of ground surface indicators designed to keep buildings and surroundings safe and accessible for the visually impaired.

Birrus’ Tactile ground surface indicators offer a high quality, durable and cost-effective solution to make buildings compliant with Australian Public Access Standards.

The tactile system allows quick retrofit installation with no need for trenching, saw cutting or special tools. Supplied as a DIY install kit, the ground surface indicators are simply peeled off and stuck on the floor using the high-grade Super Stick butyl backing for a fast self-adhesive installation.

Tested for harsh Australian conditions, Birrus’ ground surface indicators are UV stabilised to ensure the colour remains constant throughout the life of the tile. The tactiles offer high resistance to mechanical damage from trolley wheels, blunt-force impact, vehicles and vandalism, and are backed by a 5-year warranty against fading, cracking and delamination.

Birrus Tactile ground surface indicators are available in a range of colours to suit the space, and can be installed on concrete, ceramic/ terracotta/ terrazzo tiles, asphalt/ bitumen; timber decking and floors; carpet/ lino; or checker plate/ metal surfaces.

Proudly made in Australia and engineered from the highest-grade polyurethane, Birrus Tactiles meet Australian Standard AS/NZS 1428.4.1:2009 and have a CSIRO slip-resistance rating of R11.

Birrus Tactile colour range and treads include: Safety Yellow (approved by Rail and Bus Authority), Ivory, Terracotta, Light Grey, Black and Dark Grey.
