Tests carried out by CSIRO on operable walls from Bildspec Distributors have revealed very strong results on their acoustic performance.

Conducted in February 2020 at CSIRO’s acoustic testing facilities in Clayton, Victoria in accordance with AS1191, the tests on Bildspec’s operable wall range aimed to determine what acoustic rating could be achieved from its frames, seals, insulation types, wall materials and densities, and overall construction methods.

Through consultation with PKA Acoustic Consultants and using the combined knowledge of Bildspec’s staff (with a collective operable wall experience of 100+ years), Bildspec has been able to achieve some very strong results at the CSIRO. Testing in accordance with AS1191 requires the test wall to be opened and closed 10 times without intervention to the seals or components before the test. This stringent testing means the wall will perform better in the real world, compared to the competition.

Bildspec is now able to provide walls that are rated to 45Rw, 47Rw, 49Rw and 52Rw, in accordance with AS1191, from their 100 series range.

Bildspec has been working closely with PKA Acoustic Consulting on the R&D work that has gone into the construction of their operable walls. Since 1968, PKA Acoustic Consulting has handled well over 8000 acoustic projects spanning a wide spectrum of requirements.
