Blackbutt Armourfloor, an engineered hardwood floor from Big River Group was specified for a new home in Hawthorn.

Designed by Jackson Clements Burrows Architects, the Trojan House, which takes its inspiration from the mythical Trojan Horse, features a cantilevered second floor to add significant interior space to the home. The cantilevered design ensured that the additional floor didn’t encroach into the backyard space used by the family’s children to play.

The timber theme on the exterior, which is completely clad in a seamless timber outer layer, continues on the inside with Big River Group’s Blackbutt Armourfloor used on the floor.

Selected for its bright and warm natural grain, Blackbutt Armourfloor is a 5-ply engineered eucalypt hardwood, which is sanded and coated with Bona Traffic for added scuff and slip resistance.

The soft, playful tone of the flooring combines with its hardwearing properties to provide a surface that is perfect for use in a family home with growing children.

Big River Group’s Armourfloor range comes in a choice of native species including Spotted Gum, Flooded Gum, Blue Gum and Blackbutt.
