Mastertop 1080, an epoxy-based high build coloured floor coating from BASF - The Chemical Company was specified for the new Prestige Hino sales and service centre in Melbourne.

Located in the Melbourne suburb of Dandenong South, Prestige Hino’s massive new state-of-the-art sales and service centre is a modern and well-appointed building designed to deliver an experience more commonly associated with luxury cars than with truck sales and service. This approach has played a major role in making Prestige Hino one of the most successful Hino truck dealerships in the southern hemisphere.

The new $20 million facility incorporates a major truck sales centre, state-of-the-art service centre and massive parts store with every aspect of the facility from its architecturally inspired design through to the construction materials used focused on quality.

The building’s designers specified Mastertop 1080, an epoxy-based high build coloured floor coating from BASF Construction Chemicals for the floor in the service and workshop facility.

Ken Gannan, Managing Director of Melbourne-based specialist applicators All Surface Coating Pty Ltd explained that they used the Mastertop 1080 for the first time on the Prestige Hino project. The product was easy to handle and apply, delivering the desired high quality and attractive finish.

The Mastertop 1080 floor in the new Prestige Hino service facility was roller-applied in an attractive ‘BASF Koala Grey’ colour across 7,300m² of area. The finished floor delivers the ideal combination of hardwearing performance and aesthetics, helping to create a service facility that is both attractive and functional.

Mastertop 1080 is suitable for use in a wide range of facilities including workshops, warehouses and car parks as well as floors in production facilities and processing plants.

Key features of Mastertop 1080 coloured floor coating:

  • Based on a high solids two component epoxy resin system
  • Easy to handle and apply
  • Provides excellent resistance to both chemical and mechanical damage
  • Supplied in a pre-packaged and proportioned kit form
  • Available in a wide range of colours
  • Can be applied to both vertical and horizontal substrates
According to Brendan O’Grady, Service Manager with Prestige Hino, the floor in the service facility not only looks great but is also very easy to clean and maintain. He adds that the new floor is standing up well to the daily rigours of the heavy vehicle maintenance and engineering environment.
