Autodesk has released new updates to Revit software for Building Information Modelling (BIM) designed to improve software performance and scalability.

Available to both Maintenance Subscription and Desktop Subscription customers, Autodesk Revit 2016 R2 builds on the speed and project performance improvements that distinguish Revit 2016 and includes over 25 updates, many on user demand. Fully compatible with the existing Revit 2016 releases, Revit 2016 R2 has no file format changes, allowing users to install the update without disrupting existing ongoing work in Revit 2016.

Revit 2016 R2 represents significant incremental value for Autodesk Maintenance and Desktop Subscription customers who get immediate access to the most current Revit capabilities.

New features in the Revit 2016 R2 software that improve software performance and scalability include the Draw Visible Elements Only option enabling faster orbit, pan and zoom, and improving navigation speed; and Colour Fill Background Processing allowing the user to continue working during update of colour schemes and the associated colour fills.

Revit 2016 R2 has new and improved tools to help users better capture and embed design intent in a model. These include project-wide parameters to drive dimension and element instance parameters with the Global Parameters feature; while the Family Visibility Preview feature offers a better view of design intent by filtering out geometries that are not viewed.

Revit 2016 R2 also features over 20 user-requested enhancements including the ability to unload links per user to increase performance and improve memory usage without affecting other project team members; Copy/Paste commands in perspective views; one-click action to cancel print or export of multiple views and sheets; ability to filter solids/voids in separate entries to more easily multi-select the geometries to make bulk changes; and enhanced rotation controls and insert part option in fabrication part modelling.
