The Australian Window Association (AWA) will, for the first time join forces with other prominent industry associations to host the Fenestration Australia 2013 exhibition and conference in Canberra in October.

AWA will work with the Window Film Association of Australia and New Zealand (WFAANZ), Skylight Industry Association (SIA) and Australian Institute of Surface Finishing (AISF) to create a breakthrough industry event this year.

According to Gary Smith, AWA Marketing Manager, prevailing trends in architecture, design and building sustainability place an unprecedented focus on the fenestration industry with previously disparate sides of the industry being called on to work together all the time. By inviting the window film, skylight and surface finishing sectors to participate in Fenestration Australia 2013, the exhibition and conference can become one of the most comprehensive events for all stakeholders and visitors.

Last year Fenestration Australia attracted 147 different companies represented by over 320 delegates. This year’s event is expected to exceed these numbers with the organisers broadening the scope of the program for the conference to become a source of information, training and networking opportunities.

The three-day program will feature a series of business sessions, presentations, workshops and social functions relevant to all stakeholders. The exhibition and AWA Design Awards have both been expanded to include representation from all sectors under the fenestration banner.

Speakers at the conference will include:

  • Rich Walker, Executive Director, American Architectural Manufacturers Association
  • Harley Dale, Chief Economist, Housing Industry Association
  • David Packham OAM, MappSci, 50 years in bushfire research at the CSIRO, Monash University, The Australian Emergency Management Institute and in fire weather policy at the Bureau of Meteorology
  • Andrew Horabin, professional speaker and author of three corporate books: The Listening King, Lose The Teenage Face and Bullshift
Early bird registrations will begin in May. Fenestration Australia 2013 will be held in Canberra from October 3 to October 5.
