The national president of the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) , Robin Fardoulys FAIB, has been elected as deputy chair of the Australian Construction Industry Forum (ACIF).

Australian Construction Industry Forum is the organisation for trade associations and professional institutes in Australia’s building and construction industry.

“It was an honour to be elected to the role of Australian Construction Industry Forum deputy chair. I look forward to playing a leadership role in assisting the building and construction industry adapt to changes in the regulatory and commercial environment.” Robin Fardoulys FAIB said.

At the Australian Construction Industry Forum annual general meeting, Robin Fardoulys said that the policy agenda of the new Australian government will require builders, subcontractors and consulting professions to be more responsive to change, particularly over the next few years.

“Australian Construction Industry Forum is uniquely positioned to assist the industry work with the new government given its peak status, bringing together all of the major stakeholders in the building and construction industry.” Robin Fardoulys FAIB said.

Australian Institute of Building has two seats (directorships) on the Australian Construction Industry Forum Board. The day to day work is managed by an executive director with the high-level strategic and management issues dealt with by a four person elected executive comprising:

  • Chair - Neil Marshal (Mechanical contractor representing CIESG)
  • Deputy chair - Robin Fardoulys FAIB (Builder representing AIB)
  • Deputy - Chair David Parken LFRAIA (RAIA Chief Executive)
  • Treasurer - Troy Williams MAICD (AIB Chief Executive)

Under the constitution the chair and at least one of the two deputy chairs must be an industry practitioner (i.e not an employee of an association / institute). At the annual general meeting Australian Institute of Building’s chief executive, Troy Williams MAICD, was reelected to the role of Australian Construction Industry Forum treasurer.

“Robin's election to the Australian Construction Industry Forum executive greatly enhances Australian Institute of Building's influence in setting the policy agenda for the building and construction industry.” said Troy Williams MAICD.

Australian Construction Industry Forum members include the Air Conditioning & Mechanical Contractors Association of Australia (AMCA), Association of Consulting Architects Australia (ACAA), Association of Consulting Engineers Australia (ACEA), Australian Institute of Building (AIB), Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS), Construction Industry Engineering services Group (CIESG), Engineers Australia (IE Aust), Facility Management Association of Australia (FMAA), Fire Protection Association of Australia (FPAA), Master Builders Australia (MBA), Planning Institute of Australia (PIA), Property Council of Australia (PCA) and the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA).
