The Gallery House, winner of the Australian Institute of Architects National Award for Residential Architecture Houses and designed by Denton Corker Marshall was the venue of the launch of a beautiful catalogue of contemporary Australian architecture.

INSPIRE 2011, the new catalogue features 149 state and territory as well as 34 national award winning architecture projects from across Australia.

The INSPIRE series was created by the Australian Institute of Architects to record the best of Australian architecture each year. The latest INSPIRE is the second in a series of ten annual, limited edition books to be published from 2010 to 2019.

The projects are featured across 12 key categories including Urban Design, Heritage, Sustainable Architecture, Small Project Architecture, Residential Architecture, Commercial Architecture, Interior Architecture, Public Architecture, International Architecture, Enduring Architecture and the COLORBOND Award for Steel Architecture.

The INSPIRE 2011 catalogue features high quality images of each award-winning project by the nation’s top architectural photographers, and also includes personal anecdotes from architects in addition to building sketches.

Australian Institute of Architects CEO, Mr David Parken describes the INSPIRE series as celebrating the growing recognition of the role of the built environment in delivering quality of life and accordingly, greater recognition of the architecture profession.

He adds that the award winning architecture from across the whole country in Australian cities, suburbs and regions gives a compelling profile of the contemporary built environment and sustainable practices.

INSPIRE 2011 has a limited print run of 3000 books with each edition individually numbered and visual quirks linking all ten volumes in the series together. When lined up, an overall graphic theme will be revealed on the books’ spines.

INSPIRE – Australian National Architecture Awards 2011 is now available in specialist bookstores.
