Askin Performance Panels was awarded the contract for the supply and
installation of insulated sandwich panels for the new warehouse facility for
Symbion Pty Ltd located at Atlantic Drive ‘The Key’ Industrial Estate,
Keysborough, Victoria. The project consists of 9,000m² of XFLAM insulated
panels, comprising of external walls, internal walls and ceilings. ASKIN
partnered with Australand to complete this project and together they provided
specific design solutions to complete this facility utilising varied ‘thicknesses
of ASKIN XFLAM panel to achieve the project specification brief.
250mm thickness XFLAM panel was used to construct the internal walls,
which were designed to achieve huge 13.7m unsupported spans! The result for
Symbion included substantial savings due to the massive reduction in steelwork
required, not to mention the speed of build and the clean look and finish of
the interior walls. XFLAM is the only FM approved panel system capable of
achieving this huge span and in addition to this, by using the 250mm XFLAM
panel ASKIN was able to achieve a thermal insulation R value greater than 7.9!
The exterior walls for the facility were also constructed from XFLAM panel,
which comes with Bluescope Colorbond skins. For this project the skin profile
chosen was Silkline and the Colorbond colours were Shale Grey, Windspray and
Surf Mist. Australand chose to work with ASKIN on this project particularly for
the total solution that ASKIN could provide with a full design, manufacture,
installation and warranted approach. With 15 to 20 ASKIN contractors on site
throughout the build, the project deadlines were easily met. XFLAM external facade
panel over achieved BCA section J compliance and not only do they look great,
they met the very stringent guidelines in place from local fire authority as
well as Symbion’s Insurance.
XFLAM panel is an insurer endorsed fire resistant product with FM
approval; however this project was also required to be installed per the CODE
of practice and has now been audited by the CEO of the Insulated Panel Council
of Australasia (IPCA) with a full tick to CODE compliance.
In addition to this XFLAM is now GreenTag Certified and is 100%
Australian owned and Australian made. Yet another reason Australand and Symbion
decided to partner with ASKIN and XFLAM ‘the premier performance panel’ for
this project.
