Volcore panels from Askin Performance Panels were specified for the façade of the new Target Australia headquarters in Melbourne. The 12,600-square-metre office located in Williams Landing, West Melbourne accommodates 850 employees over eight levels and has been designed by Gray Puksand with Hacer Group serving as the builder on the project.

Askin’s Volcore mineral wool panel provided a non-combustible building solution for Target’s new head office.

Sourcing a façade panel product that not only met Target’s aesthetic objectives but also conformed to the NCC and relevant building codes was a major challenge for the builder and the architect. A non-Askin panel specified initially did not conform to the updated (and more rigid) restrictions on materials and external cladding products.

The architect chose Askin for their extensive offering of panel products suitable for a range of construction purposes. The Volcore Vivid Panel met the requirements of both the architect as well as the building surveyors for combustibility, and the performance requirements of the NCC. Structural performance, weather tightness, thermal values and non-combustibility, all in compliance with the NCC for Type A and B constructions are some of the advantages of working with Volcore Vivid panels.

About 3500 square metres of Volcore Vivid panels were supplied for installation at the Target HQ.

Askin provided a compliant and non-combustible panel product that also met Target’s expectations in terms of finish. The Volcore Vivid panels in Silkline profile were installed by FaçadeX in Dune Matt and Thredbo White colours.
