Master Craftsman Karl Eggert started his training as a Church restorer and gilder in Germany in 1959. This classical European background led to the formation of Art Gilding in Sydney 28 years ago.

Karl trained a team of skilled gilders and under his experienced leadership, projects have taken them from Hayman Island in the far north of Queensland to every major city in Australia beyond to Europe and South East Asia.

Art Gilding has worked many years perfecting gilding techniques and the company been associated with many notable projects, including:

Dutch Metal (faux gold) or Aluminium Leaf (Faux silver) applied over ceilings and domes or feature walls have become a very popular alternative to create the ‘wow’ effect and still stay within budget. Architects and interior designers love to include and recommend these finishes in their working brief to create special dimensions within contemporary commercial and domestic environments.
