Series 411 ViewMASTER bi-fold doors and Series 702 SlideMASTER doors were installed at a major hotel-cum-residential apartment tower complex located in the heart of Adelaide’s CBD.
A landmark presence in Adelaide, the $150-million complex consists of the 15-level, 308-room Crowne Plaza Hotel tower and a 14-level luxury residential apartment tower known as 20 Hindmarsh Square. The Adelaide-based Elevate Aluminium Systems fabricator, T.C. Aluminium won the large glazing contract for the project.
Designed by architects Pruszinski, the building incorporates very wide openings with broad opening spans creating a welcoming sense of connection with the bustling city surrounds and views. The design also presented challenges from a glazing perspective as they required systems capable of spanning large distances, supporting heavy loads and withstanding high wind factor.

Series 411 bi-fold doors are top-hung to ensure smooth operation with heavy glazing over substantial spans while Series 702 SlideMASTER doors used throughout the accommodation areas of the building are capable of achieving large panel sizes even when subject to the high wind-load pressures expected in elevated applications.
Using the bi-fold system and the 10-leaf, 6+4 system, T.C. Aluminium was able to exceed all required ratings for the 15-storey application.
