Kel Greenway of GHP Architects designed the Hawthorne House for his daughter and her young family, making it a very passionate project for the architect.

In this video, Kel Greenway explains the entire design process including the use of large glazing and bold frames to maximise the natural environment. According to the architect, Hawthorne House presents a sempiternal aesthetic that draws its appeal from the natural environment and lighting that surrounds it.

Windows and doors from Architectural Window Systems were used extensively throughout the design to achieve excellent energy efficiency and maximise natural light.

Working closely with window and door fabricator JAG Windows, the architect chose Elevate Series 704 double glazed stacking sliding doors for the modern living space, connecting the home with its outdoor alfresco area; Series 426 double glazed FrontGLAZE framing for the fixed windows and to house operable awning sashes; and Series 52 double glazed entry doors to open on to the upper level balcony.
