The Australian Government has announced a $525 million package to fund skills training in select priority sectors to address the current skills shortage. The HVAC+R sector has been identified as one of the priority sectors in the Government’s Delivering Skills for Today and Tomorrow funding package.

To ensure Australians develop the skills they need to succeed in a changing workplace, the package will create up to 80,000 additional apprentices over the coming five years in identified priority skill shortage areas.

Additionally, the skills training program will address youth unemployment by providing 400 scholarships in regions throughout Australia and streamline incentives for employers of apprentices and trainees while modernising the skills requirement list.
