Two cladding products from Altro Flooring and Walling were specified for a refurbishment project at a multi-speciality hospital in Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam.

Established at the beginning of the 20th Century, Saint Paul Hospital is currently undergoing a thorough and systematic renovation and refurbishment. One wing was converted into the Hanoi High Tech and Digestive Center, designed to provide early cancer detection and effective minimally invasive surgical treatment.

Altro Whiterock met all the health and hygiene objectives as well as the high finishing standards required at the new facility. About 1400sqm of Altro Whiterock White and 300sqm of Altro Whiterock Fawn were installed in the wing, with their hygienic properties helping reduce the spread of infection to protect those undergoing examination and treatment.

As a fully sealed cladding system, Altro Whiterock does not leave any room for vermin to hide or allow grouted joints where bacterial or fungal growth can occur. Key benefits of Altro Whiterock cladding include smooth, impervious system that is easy to clean and requires no special maintenance regime; savings in time and ongoing maintenance cost; and durable, impact-resistant and hygienic surface.

According to Nick Robinson, VK Architects & Engineers, one of the key purposes of this project was the provision of a facility for skills transfer from international expert surgeons. The client, therefore, sought to achieve European aesthetic and hygiene compliance standards.

The architects were confident Altro products would meet the required standards. The contractor completed the installation efficiently, and the client was very pleased with the final outcome.
