Window, door and framing systems from ALSPEC were specified for the sophisticated renovation of an 1890s Bluestone villa located in the leafy Adelaide suburb of St Peters. Updated for the new millennium, the old villa with its expansive indoor-outdoor living spaces, seamlessly connected and bathed in natural light, now has a new sense of space.

The renovation encompassed the opening up and extension of the rear of this Victorian-era home to make it more spacious, much like a modern home design. The home’s façade retains its old-world charm as part of the distinctive villa and cottage streetscape of St Peters.

With the rear extensions, the key living areas (kitchen, dining and lounge) are able to connect effortlessly to the alfresco barbeque and pool areas, culminating in an expansive entertaining space. Alspec’s Hawkesbury multi-fold doors have been installed on all the external facing living areas; by stacking externally, these doors can accentuate the full width openings. Additionally, when fully opened, the doors merge the kitchen, living and dining spaces seamlessly with the elegantly landscaped garden, barbeque and pool areas.

Alspec’s Murray top hung awning windows were teamed with ecoFRAMEplus centre pocket double glazed framing for the openable windows and fixed glazing.

Fabricator ArborCrest Aluminium Windows and Doors was responsible for the installation of all the Alspec products used in the project including Hawkesbury commercial multi-fold doors, ecoFRAMEplus 101.6mm centre pocket double glazed framing and Murray top hung awning windows.
