One of the most important expectations from an airport hotel room is the ability to shut out external noise so that you can get a good night’s sleep. When noise levels matter, look no further than Alspec’s superior aluminium framing products with their sound-minimising properties.

For the team constructing the new Rydges Gold Coast Airport hotel development, the answer was simple: Alspec’s acoustic and double glazed framing with sound-reducing properties.

Located at the Gold Coast Airport, on the border of Queensland and NSW, the Rydges hotel is just a few minutes’ walk to the domestic and international terminals. Designed by NRA Collaborative, the hotel offers 192 rooms over six levels with guests having a choice of coastal or concourse views as well as access to a rooftop bar and ground floor dining and pool amenities. Every room features floor to ceiling windows, with premium corner suites boasting wraparound glass to maximise district views.

Given the proximity to the airport, sound reduction properties were a crucial selection criterion for the materials used in building construction to help create calm, quiet rooms for travellers.

Several types of aluminium framing from across the Alspec range were specified to deliver on this requirement including Hunter Evo 150mm acoustic, Hunter Evo double glazed and ecoFRAMEplus centre pocket double glazed framing.

The Hunter Evo acoustic framing comprises dual 19mm glazing pockets with a 100mm airspace, which minimises sound transfer between the exterior and interior of the hotel. Made from architectural grade aluminium, this framing is also highly resistant to the elements and the flush finish adds to the façade’s appeal.

Alspec’s ecoFRAMEplus double glazing is a centre pocket style of framing featuring superior strength mullions, making it ideal for wider expanses of glazing such as foyer and convention room spaces, while also delivering soundproofing qualities.

Additionally, Hawkesbury Commercial multi-fold doors and Swan Evo 45mm double glazed commercial doors were selected to provide easy access to the ground floor outdoor amenities. The multi-fold doors operate smoothly using tyred floor guides along concealed channels, enabling a wide opening to connect the poolside area to the adjacent restaurant and bar, and creating an indoor-outdoor relaxing leisure space.

The Swan Evo doors were specified for locations where hinged or pivoted doors were required. The centre pocket glazing and hardwearing componentry make them ideal for hotel and hospitality environments from both security and durability perspectives.

Alspec products used at the Rydges Gold Coast Airport hotel included Derwent 76mm centre pocket framing; ecoFRAMEplus 101.6mm centre pocket double glazed framing; ecoFRAMEplus 150mm centre pocket double glazed framing; Hawkesbury Commercial multi-fold door; Hunter Evo 101.6mm single flush glazed framing; Hunter Evo 101.6mm double flush glazed framing; Hunter Evo 150mm double flush glazed framing; Hunter Evo 150mm acoustic framing; McArthur Evo 101.6mm centre pocket framing; ProGlide High Performance sliding doors; and Swan Evo 45mm Commercial shopfront doors.
