Aglo Systems was involved in the modernisation of several pendant lights at the Saint Stephens Catholic Church in Reservoir, VIC.

Given the limited budget for the church’s refurbishment, it was decided to upcycle the eight existing pendant lights and give them new life in a cost-effective rejuvenation project.

Aglo Systems’ Custom Manufacturing team worked with 2B Designed Architects for the tight budget, quick turnaround job at the church.

The refurbishment involved gently dismantling each pendant light fitting, and cleaning and repainting it. Though the design brief included reimagining the existing plain acrylic diffusers to reflect the stained glass panels in the chapel, the church budget could not cover handmade stained glass diffusers.

A cost effective solution was proposed, which involved photographing the actual stained glass panels, printing the image onto clear adhesive vinyl and wrapping the printed vinyl around the cleaned acrylic diffuser of the pendant. The internal fittings were also upgraded from fluorescent tubes to an LED light source.

The modernised pendants match the stained glass windows beautifully and look convincingly authentic. The entire project was completed in one month.
