An innovative drain system from ACO Polycrete featuring a unique slot design was specified for the pavement outside the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) in Sydney. The MCA is a national resource for education and interpretative programs and comprises two floors of galleries for exhibitions.
Part of the designer’s brief was the pavement design outside the building’s entrance where utilities and services were discreetly positioned to provide a minimalistic look. A one-way fall built along the pavement surface to direct surface water towards the concrete barriers allowed for ACO’s Brickslot to be used.
ACO’s Brickslot is an unobtrusive drain with an asymmetric slot design allowing the system to be laid directly against the concrete wall footing. The frame is manufactured from durable stainless steel for enhanced durability.
William Phelps Architects specified the ACO stainless steel Brickslot drain with KS100 channel as well as ACO Cablemate galvanised cover and frame systems with polymer concrete pits.
