Trench drain systems and anti-slip grates from ACO Polycrete were recently specified for Sydney University’s new Law School Building.

Sydney University conducted a design competition for its new Law School building. A key requirement of the design brief was to reconnect the campus to Victoria Park, which meant designers needed to efficiently drain multiple levels of pavements while also minimising excavation.

ACO’s SlabDrain with an overall depth of 130mm was specified for the job. The SlabDrain H200K is a range of shallow linear trench drains that met the designers’ need to keep walking surfaces flat while keeping the drainage function close to the surface. This also minimised excessive pipework and associated earthworks.

Iron Intercept Heelsafe antislip grates (rated to AS 4586) were also selected as they were strong enough for service trucks and safe for women wearing high heels.
