ACO Polycrete  products were specified by Taylor Thomson Whitting for the pavement areas of the Taronga Zoo Main Entrance Plaza in Sydney.

The Main Entrance Plaza consists of a restored heritage listed building and new facilities including a zoo shop, café, information kiosk and ticketing services.

The design brief required the Main Entrance Plaza to be changed into a more open area providing better access to car parking and bus bays. With the pavement areas subjected to heavy foot traffic by people of all ages every day, it was important to create a safe and pedestrian-friendly environment.

The designers selected the KlassikDrain trench drainage system with Heelsafe antislip stainless steel grates to provide efficient drainage as well as a heel-safe environment.

ACO products used for the project included KlassikDrain K200 with Heelsafe ductile iron grates, and ACO Cablemate polymer concrete pits with Rhinocast access covers featuring brass decorative edges.
