The Traditional English-style kitchen, from A-Plan Kitchens , is the ideal place to prepare cucumber sandwiches and pots of tea.

Designer Catherine Young listened to the owners’ request for an English-inspired space and has delivered just this and then some.

As part of a major renovation, the owners were after a warm and welcoming traditional family kitchen that would blend with the rest of their comfortable Federation home.

Opting for a more different look rather than a seamless finish, the owners chose a separate baby blue dresser to complement the rest of the décor.

Positioned next to the sink, the dresser features open shelving for displaying crockery, storing chopping boards, trays and other cooking utensils and conceals the unattractive service ducting.

Large oregon shaker-style doors were selected and hand painted by the owners in Porters paints. Perhaps the big challenge faced by Catherine Young was working out how to incorporate all the mod cons, while remaining as true to the traditional English-style as possible.

The team at A-Plan Kitchens achieved this by utilising a range of innovative design elements. Through careful planning and execution, no compromise was made to the room’s style or comfort.

Everything has its place — the large integrated refrigerator, two Smeg ovens and twin sinks have all been expertly installed to look right at home in this classic kitchen. With all the decorative frills without any of the fussiness, this kitchen is the picture of simple style.
