Global workplace interior design and fit-out business, Unispace, has appointed Julie Watts to the position of design principal, based in Melbourne.

Watts has moved across from Cox Architecture to take up the position, adding to the growing number of women specialising in workplace design within Unispace.

With a passion for sustainability and a broad range of skills and experience ranging from hospitality to healthcare, Watts brings a fresh perspective to the sector, with unique expertise in complex workplace planning.

As a UTS interior design alumni, Watts has worked in geographic markets as diverse as Japan, France, Malaysia, the UK and Australia - accumulating a truly global perspective on interior design throughout her 18-year career.

Her recent international projects include the $100 million Sir John Monash Centre at Villers-Bretonneux, France, which was opened last year by Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull to commemorate Australia's presence on the Western Front in World War 1.

On a local level, Watts led the interior design for the $330+ million Rod Laver redevelopment project in Melbourne, which is transforming the iconic 30-year-old arena into a world-class sports and entertainment complex for a whole new generation of fans.
