The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) has announced that MAD Architects principal partner Dang Qun will deliver the 2019 Lloyd Rees Memorial Lecture, a discussion on art and architecture. 

MAD Architects is a global firm committed to creating a vision for the city of the future that is based on the spiritual and emotional needs of its residents, and is best known for the way it interprets the contemporary world through design.

Dang Qun holds a Master of Architecture from Iowa State University and received a Certificate of Merit from the American Institute of Architects in 2000. He has been closely involved in each stage of MAD's recent projects, including Absolute Towers, Ordos Museum, Chaoyang Park Plaza, Nanjing Zendai Himalayas Center, Harbin Opera House, China Philharmonic Concert Hall and Lucas Museum of Narrative Art.

The Lloyd Rees Memorial lecture was created in 1998 to honour the memory of the late Australian painter and lecturer Lloyd Rees, who was known for his passion and insights about the interrelation between art and architecture. Held every two years at the MCA in Sydney, this prestigious lecture is given by an architect or artist and looks at the significant impact of the crossover of art and architecture, issues of architecture, art, urban planning and cultural futures.
