Australia's largest architecture firm, Woods Bagot is opening a new design studio in Auckland where it hopes to tap into local kiwi talent.

Design leader and studio chair Gavin Kain, who will head the Auckland studio, said the company's plan to recruit around 20 New Zealand architects and designers was aligned with its ‘local and global’ strategy. Observing that Woods Bagot could combine the Kiwis' local knowledge with the resources of its numerous international offices, Kain explains that the firm finds the combination of local and global talent quite powerful as they challenge as well as inspire each other.

Woods Bagot has been involved in some of the biggest projects in New Zealand including SkyCity's New Zealand International Convention Centre, and the Christchurch Blueprint Masterplan. Kain’s involvement in these projects convinced him about the need to have a footprint in New Zealand.

Kain added that being part of Woods Bagot would enable Kiwis to work on cutting-edge architectural design projects on both a local and a global scale.
