The latest developments in timber preservation, wood modification and engineered and composite wood products will be covered at the upcoming Wood Innovations 2016, an industry event for timber manufacturing and treatment companies in Australia.
Alternatives to timber treated with wood preservatives are increasingly becoming popular in the marketplace. These timber alternatives include wood plastic composites and modified wood products, which are already being produced in commercial quantities locally and can offer a genuine substitute for more traditional treated timber products.
The global wood plastic composites market, for example, is expected to reach US$5.4 billion in 2019 with the greatest growth for these products to be in the Asia Pacific region. Existing wood producers, therefore, have an excellent opportunity to expand their businesses.
To open in Melbourne on Tuesday 31 May, Wood Innovations 2016 will provide local companies with an insight into new timber preservatives, wood modification processes, and composite and engineered wood technologies.
Timber treatment operations, sawmill, wood manufacturing and wood panel companies, suppliers of treatment chemicals, glues, equipment and services, timber R&D personnel, wood products and environmental consultants, and Government departments advising on timber building and construction are expected to attend the event.
The Wood Innovations 2016 event will cover developments in wood preservative formulations and processes; advances in alternative products to preservative treated wood; modified wood products trends and opportunities for local wood producers; composite and engineered wood products and options for future manufacturing; the real impact of growing ‘green consumerism’ on treated wood products; wood treatment QA and QC schemes; and new developments in engineered wood products.
Presented by Forest Industry Engineering Association, a division of Innovatek Ltd, Wood Innovations 2016 will be held at the Bayview Eden Melbourne, 6 Queens Road, Melbourne VIC from Tuesday 31 May until Wednesday 1 June 2016.
