The Katherine Museum, the Rydges Palmerston Hotel, a truck wash and several residential designs are in the running for the 2016 National Building Design Awards.

Organised by the National Association of Building Designers (NABD), the awards will be held at the Sea World Resort on the Gold Coast on Saturday 1 October  and will once again promote and recognise excellence in building design across the country.

The country's best residential, interior, heritage conservation, energy efficiency, and commercial and industrial design will all be celebrated on the night, as the NABD rounds out another year.

Longstanding supporter of the Australian building design industry and Building Designers Association of Queensland President Tamica Lewis notes that the quality of this year’s nominated building designers raises the standard of exceptional building design to the next level.

In all, 20 awards will be presented at the National Building Design Awards including ‘Best New Residential Design’, ‘Best Heritage Design’, ‘Best Sustainable Design’ and ‘National Building Design of the Year’.

The NABD represents the Northern Territory, South Australian, Queensland, Western Australian and Victorian building designer associations and members from all are well represented at the 2016 National Building Design Awards.
