Postgraduate programs offered at the Australian Graduate School of Urbanism and the Australian School of Architecture + Design at UNSW Built Environment are being adapted to keep pace with changes in industry.

Postgraduate courses within the Australian Graduate School of Urbanism (AGSU) and ASA + D are evolving to respond to the key drivers affecting property development, design and planning. Courses are designed to encourage students from different disciplines to work together, as they would in industry.

According to Professor Bruce Judd, director of the Australian School of Architecture + Design (ASA + D), the courses are also changing to accommodate the rapid shift in information technology, the increasing focus on environmental sustainability and the trend towards globalisation by giving students a broader world view.

Professor Judd explains that there is an increasing need within the building industry to integrate the ideas of technology, sustainability and design together. Observing the level of digitisation across the industry, he adds that they need to constantly change and update their curricula to keep up with new developments.

AGSU offers postgraduate degrees in the sustainable built environment, urban development and design, and urban policy and strategy. It also offers research degrees in specialised streams, including housing policy and finance, writing the city, infrastructure planning, procurement and finance, and design research.

ASA + D offers postgraduate degrees in architecture, planning, construction project management, and property and development.
