Adding to his portfolio of geometry and light-based interactive projects, Canadian artist Thibaut Sld has created the “HEXI” responsive wall – a series of 60 mounted panels, which react to nearby movements.
The wall’s hexagonal panels collect real-time data with depth sensing cameras and uses motion-tracking technology to decode and interpret the gestures and actions of a person within close range.
A person can walk pass, jump near or wave a hand in the direction of the wall, then, using this data, HEXI is able to act in-sync with the nearby participant.
The panels begin to undulate in countered unison to the human gestures, creating a rippled wave effect across the surface of the wall.
