Sustainability Live is a panel event that will be held on 11 October, at The Star in Sydney. It will take the form of six Q&A panels and one debate, led by experts in sustainable building and design.

The final panel of the day will take the form of a debate, asking the question, "Is our continuing population growth a help or hindrance to ensuring a sustainable built environment?"

Australia’s population growth and urbanisation affect virtually all development objectives; consumption, production, employment, income distribution, poverty and social protections. They also complicate our efforts to ensure universal access to health, education, housing, sanitation, water, etc. The questions is, where are we really heading, and do we need to change directions?

Confirmed panellists include Troy Uleman, director of John McAslan + Partners, Dr. Peter Tonkin, director of Tonkin Zulaikha Greer Architects, Robert Pradolin, national program advisor at WoodSolutions Mid Rise Advisory Program and Kevin Begg, technical director - urban design at GHD Woodhead. The debate will be moderated by Jonathan Prendergast, director of Prendergast Projects.

The full list of panellists will be announced soon.
