The organisers of SPARC International Lighting Event 2015 have announced the speakers list for the accompanying educational seminar program and they are encouraging architects and designers to come along and take the opportunity to learn about new lighting innovations.

SPARC will be held at Sydney Exhibition Centre, Glebe Island from 27 May to 29 May 2015, and will once again align with Vivid Sydney, the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest annual celebration of light, music and ideas.

SPARC 2015 features an educational seminar program alongside an exhibition of global developments and future directions in lighting. The SPARC speaker program consists of both internationally and nationally renowned experts in lighting design, education, research and architecture.

Highlights of the SPARC 2015 speaker program:

  • “Colour preference-based LED lighting” - NIST Fellow, Sensor Science Division at the US National Institute of Standards and Technology, Dr Yoshi Ohno.   
  • “Consumer choice for lighting products and the feasibility of DC circuits for lighting” - Associate Professor of Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University and Co-Director at the Centre for Climate and Energy Decision-Making (CEDM), Assoc. Professor InĂªs Azevedo.
  •  “Museum Lighting” - Senior Lighting Technician at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Simm Steel.
  • “Early lessons learned from the introduction of SSL to the market” - Manager of Advanced Lighting at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory Marc Ledbetter.
  • “Light and colour in the built environment” – Joint talk with Principal of Lighting Design Studio PointOfView Design Pty Ltd, Mark Elliott and Vice Principal of Specifier Service, Xicato Roger Sexton.
  •  “The potential health issues of solid-state lighting” - Head of the lighting and electromagnetism division at the Center for Building Science and Technology (CSTB) in France, Dr Christophe Martinsons.
  • “The results of quality testing of residential LED lamps” - Full professor Toulouse 3 University (France), Professor Honoris Causa St Petersburg State University (Russian Federation), Vice President IEEE Industrial Application Society, Professor Georges Zissis.
  • “Daylight in the built environment” - Principal architect of Di Mase Architects, Anthony Di Mase.
  • “Latest developments in connected lighting” - Office and Industry Segment Leader, Global Business Systems, Philips Lighting, Jacques Letzelter.
  •  “International standards for lighting products” - International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Technical Committee 34, Dr Alan Prest.

SPARC CEO Bryan Douglas said that the event will enable thousands of participants to experience the latest in lighting technology through lighting exhibitions and a world-class program of invited speakers.
