The Architects Board of Western Australia’s annual Board Award has been awarded to Perth architect Paul Rossen for his outstanding contribution to the architectural profession.
Representing the highest accolade from the industry in Western Australia, the award also recognised Rossen’s efforts in mentoring and tutoring architecture graduates in reparation for their registration examinations.
“Paul Rossen is a very worthy recipient of the State’s highest architecture accolade…his involvement has gone well beyond any expectation,” says Bruce Callow, Chairman of the WA Architects Board.
Rossen is the director of Parry and Rosenthal Architects, and represents the practice on a number of local, state and national professional committees.
With over 30 years of professional experience, and an emphasis on education facilities, security and emergency services, and transport and infrastructure projects, he has worked throughout Australia, London and Europe.
He has also been involved in award judging panels, boards and design advisory roles, as well as pro bono work for organisations such as Legacy.
This recognition marks the first time that the award follows in family footsteps - Rossen’s mother Iris had won the Architects Board Award in 1998 for her contribution to the profession.
“I have been very fortunate to have had wonderful mentors and teachers throughout my career. I am pleased to be able to contribute to the development of the next generation of architects through mentoring and tutoring them,” says Rossen.
The Award aims to recognise architects registered in WA whose attitudes and personal contributions to the profession or community have enhanced public confidence, or promoted public awareness of the profession.
