Parramatta’s 87 Church Street has achieved a key development milestone with Nettleton Tribe + Fox Johnston winning the design competition which will see the construction of one of Parramatta’s tallest residential towers at 196m in height.
Located on the corner of Church Street and Great Western Highway and set to be built by Dyldam, the winning scheme was deemed to have achieved design excellence by the Design Competition jury which comprised of Kim Crestani, City Architect, City of Parramatta Council, Olivia Hyde, Director – Design Excellence, Office of the Government Architect and Russell Olsson, Architect + Urban Designer.
The jury noted that Nettleton Tribe + Fox Johnston responded to the nuances of the site; advocating to retain the light filled central public garden space and flagship retail which offers a circulation pattern through and around these features.
“The street is addressed positively with the flagship retail while the pedestrian urban plaza successfully protects pedestrians from the busy intersection of Church Street and Great Western Highway. Further work has been undertaken to enhance the environmental performance of the tower facades to maintain good thermal performance whilst also being cost effective,” says the jury
Dyldam says it intends to create a sophisticated 62-storey mixed-use tower which includes a 6-storey podium and a residential yield of up to 450 apartments.
The retail/commercial component of the development will span across 3,306sqm, according to Dyldam.
